Cielo is a light and airy Aran weight yarn.
It is 42% baby alpaca and 42% super fine merino in a soft and fluffy combination with 16% polyamide as binder.
The yarn is contructed as an i-cord made from a very thin thread. This gives an Aran weight yarn with a very airy structure -
a yarn suitable for all your chunky knitwear.
- 1 thread at needles 10 mm/US 15 (Approx. 12 stitches = 10 cm/4 inches).
- 2 threads at needles 12 mm/US 17 (Approx. 10 stitches = 10 cm/4 inches).

The construction of Cielo is a further development of blow yarns such as Air from Drops and Snefnug from Camarose. Cielo is light and airy like a blow yarn but the construction ensures that the fibers stay within the yarn.
The fibers have been spun together into a very thin thread which has then been ”knitted” to an i-cord – much like a shoelace.
The airy construction of Cielo gives a yarn with great flexibility – it can be knit relatively tight but it will also carry a loose guage very well. Cielo is a light Aran weight yarn perfect for all you chunky knitwear.
Cielo is produced in Peru at a large and reputable spinnery. Animal welfare is a high priority and the spinnery have clear guidelines for breeding, shearing and the everyday life for the Alpacas. It is for instance a requirement that the owner of the animals is physically present at the shearing – this is to ensures that the animals are treated with respect.
We have worked together with this spinnery for many years, and we know that they will take immediate action if their guidelines are not being followed.
The Merino wool in Cielo is non mulesing.
The spinnery is certified according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and all dying is done accordingly.
Water and excess fibers are being recycled to the greatest possible extent – this it makes good sense for the environment as well as the economy.
