We have a wide selection of knitting needles from Addi. The reason for this is simply that there is a significant difference in what each of us as knitter prefers, and certain needles are better suited for specific types of knitting or yarn while other knitting needles work better in other contexts. We have both wooden and metal circular needles from Addi as well as various types of double-pointed needles. The common feature of Addi's metal knitting needles is that they are all hollow, which makes them pleasant to hold in your hands as the needles quickly get warm. Additionally all circular needles are equipped with a flexible wire. There are knitting needles for every taste and we are sure that no matter which knitting needle you choose these knitting needles will increase your knitting pleasure.

Addi – Made in Germany

Addi is a family-owned company in Germany that has existed for over 190 years. Peter Heinrich Selter founded the company Selter in 1829 and it is now led by the 6th generation with Thomas Selter as the director. Addi's family business has been producing knitting needles, crochet hooks, and other accessories for generations.

So where does the name Addi actually come from?

It's actually quite simple. The mother of the current owner, Hella Selter, began intuitively marketing and publishing a catalog of Addi's products in the 1950s. It was a sensation at that time. Back then people were working with typewriters, where a whole letter had to be rewritten in case of an error, contracts were made with handshakes, and orders were often still handwritten. The concept of marketing barely existed. In this regard, the catalog was indeed a sensation, and Hella Selter took it a step further. She wanted to find a name for their products. Her husband's name was Gustav Adolf Selter, but the name Adolf was not a very popular first name after World War II. His nickname was "Addi," and it had no association with the war. Hella Selter decided to use this nickname as a trademark. She probably didn't know how advantageous it was that this name could be understood and pronounced without any problems worldwide.

Addi's philosophy is simple: "Our customers should have the best quality - their hands should be pampered."

This is what every employee in Addi's company strives for. They aim to create the best tools for their customers. That is why they are still one of the leading manufacturers on the market even after more than 190 years. The manufacturer takes its responsibility seriously by never compromising on functionality or quality.

93% of their products are locally produced in Altena in the Sauerland region, where Addi also has its headquarters. Everything from sales and marketing to development and production takes place there. Craftsmanship is highly valued at Addi, and a large part of the production is still done by hand. This aligns perfectly with the fact that knitters and crocheters create their creations using Addi's products.

The fact that a large part of the production is done by hand also helps to secure jobs in the German city and ensures that consumers can trace the origin of their products. Additionally Addi remains the only European manufacturer that can offer consumers a complete range of knitting and crochet accessories.

When Addi produces knitting needles, crochet hooks, or other accessories, it sometimes involves up to 25 individual steps to create the perfect product. You can be sure that everything is thoroughly tested and nothing is left to chance. Internationally renowned knitters and crocheters, such as Veronika Hug, are often involved in the development of new products. Addi takes their responsibility very seriously by never compromising on quality or functionality. The manufacturer exclusively uses the best materials to ensure the highest quality and longest lifespan. The strong focus on functionality is also reflected in user-friendliness, making Addi's products accessible to all creative individuals, whether you a beginner or an expert. You can be confident that Addi's products are comfortable to work with.

Addi cannot produce or sell any products without all of its employees. Therefore, maintaining and constantly improving a fair, healthy, and open work environment is one of the company's most important goals. They prioritize the mental and physical well-being of their employees and encourage cross-department collaboration to share ideas and experiences. It is also possible to receive training in general or specialized areas, contributing to a strong and thriving company that keeps up with developments.

As a family-owned business led by the 6th generation, Addi is aware of the need to handle available resources carefully and responsibly. It is part of their responsibility to current and future generations. They continuously develop and improve their production processes and materials. They strive for optimal use of all materials and also consider the environment in their choice of transportation for materials and products, preferring ship transport over air transport. Their packaging is certified, and like everything else there is nothing that Addi has not thought about or considered.
