At the bottom of the page you will find further information about Cielo
as well as suggestions for patterns perfect for this yarn
The construction of Cielo is an enhancement of blow yarns such as Air from Drops and Snefnug from Camarose. Cielo is light and airy like a blow yarn but the construction ensures that the fibers stay within the yarn.
The fibers have been spun together into a very thin thread and afterwards ”knitted” to an i-cord – much like a shoelace.
The airy construction of Cielo gives the yarn great flexibility and you can knit it relatively tight but it will also carry a loose guage very well. Cielo and be knitted on all sizes from 6 to 12 mm and the yarn is perfect for the many trendy patterns for chunky knitwear.
Cielo is produced in Peru at a large and reputable spinnery. Animal welfare is a high priority and the spinnery have clear guidelines for breeding, shearing and the everyday life for the Alpacas. It is for instance a requirement that the owner of the animals is physically present at the shearing – this is to ensures that the animals are treated with respect.
We have worked with this spinnery for many years, and we know that they will take immediate action if their guidelines are not being followed.
The Merino wool in Cielo is non mulesing.
The spinnery is certified according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and all dying of the wool is done accordingly.
Excess water and fibers are recycled to the greatest possible extent – which is not only great for the environment but the economy as well.
Patterns for Cielo
The patterns listed below are examples of patterns that will work perfectly with Cielo.
The link will sent you to the designer´s website, where you can buy the pattern. We only provide the yarn.
We recommend the following patterns if you prefer to knit with 1 thread:
Novice Cardigan - Chunky Edition by PetiteKnit
Sweater No. 9 by My Favorite Things Knitwear
Cardigan No. 7 by My Favorite Things Knitwear
If a thin Silk Mohair is listed as a second thread - this thread is not neccessary, Cielo will give you fluffiness on its own.
We recommend the following patterns, if you would like to use 2 threads of Cielo:
Holiday Slipover by PetiteKnit
Vest No. 3 by My Favorite Things Knitwear
You are still able to use only two threads of Cielo even if the pattern says 3, if one of them is a thin Silk Mohair. Cielo will give you enough fluffiness on its own.
