Wooden needle gauge from Addi. Can be used to measure crochet hooks, regular circular knitting needles as well as square knitting needles.
The package contains 2 needle gauges – one also includes a ruler.
When starting a new project, it is important to know the size of your knitting needle or crochet hook. Most knitting needles and crochet hooks have their size printed on the side of the needle or on the wire itself. However, this can wear away over time and become difficult to see. This is where a measuring tool can be very useful in determining the size for you. A needle gauge is a practical tool for knitters and crocheters. It helps to identify the size of knitting needles and crochet hooks by providing precise measurements of the diameter of the needles or hooks.
A needle gauge consists of a series of holes in various sizes. Each hole is marked with a size number corresponding to the size of the knitting needle or crochet hook. By inserting the knitting needle or crochet hook into one of the holes in the needle gauge, one can easily determine the size they have. The knitting needle or crochet hook must fit perfectly in the hole - if in doubt about whether the correct size has been found, one can try the holes that are one size larger or smaller.
The needle gauges in this set are made of birch plywood. One of the advantages of a wooden needle gauge is that it is very durable while also being beautiful. Wood is also a renewable resource and a more environmentally friendly alternative compared to plastic.
This set contains two needles gauges. One is designed as a ruler and can also be used to determine the size of your crochet hooks. The ruler is marked in both inches and centimeters. You can measure your crochet hooks from size 1.5 mm to 15 mm.
The other gauge is designed as a sock and can be used for both regular round knitting needles and circular needles as well as square knitting needles like Addi Novel. You can measure your round knitting needles from size 1.5 mm to 15 mm and your square knitting needles from size 2.00 mm to 8.00 mm.
